The task: A modern senior citizens' centre was to be built on the attractive "Villa Medici" estate.

The implementation: We planned and implemented a coherent overall ensemble consisting of the new senior citizens' centre and the existing estate. In spring 2019, the first construction phase "Medici Senior Residence I" (with 88 beds) could be handed over to the tenant. In a second construction phase, the "Medici II Senior Residence" is expected to add another 37 beds to the facility. The existing Villa Medici, with its historical value for Bensheim, was integrated into the development and houses the in-house restaurant, where guests from outside are also treated to culinary delights. Each floor of the senior residence has at least one living area where residents can gather and spend time together. From an ecological point of view, this project sets standards: a pellet heating system, a photovoltaic system on the entire roof area with battery storage in the basement with a storage capacity of around 100 KW, the controlled ventilation of all rooms with heat recovery, the combined heat and power plant with 8 KW output, which is operated with biogas, the thermal insulation on the façade and roof as well as the LED lighting in the entire building and in the outdoor facilities are part of the elaborate ecological concept.
