Revitalisation Auerbacher Haus
The task: In the heart of Bensheim's largest district, Auerbach - located directly at the Kronepark - is the Auerbacher Haus, which has shaped the district with a restaurant and hotel history spanning over 100 years. Built as a hotel in 1893, the building is to be refurbished in accordance with the preservation order and adapted for multifunctional use. After several conversions and extensions around 1900, the building now encloses an L-shaped courtyard facing the Ziegelbach stream at the rear.
The special challenge: We have either restored the quality of the historic substance and the special atmosphere of the building to a high standard or reinterpreted it in a timeless design language in close and constructive cooperation with the monument authorities. At the same time, we have restructured the building in such a way that there is a multifunctional utilisation concept that is adaptable to future developments and that fills the Auerbacher Haus with new life in a sustainable way. Today, the building is the company's headquarters, and we have also created additional space for commercial and service enterprises as well as two modern flats.
